We have all heard the stories of “athletes going broke” and it’s something that seems to be a mainstream stereotype that many athletes who are deeply interested in investing and growing their capital have to combat. Stereotypes are always dangerous and we're here to destroy it with. some athletes are changing the narrative by entering the world of venture capital and private equity.

The game is to get a return on your investment, and the earlier you get in the bigger your return. Startups are hot especially sports tech (yes we're biased) and athletes are putting themselves in the game and setting themselves up for a great financial outlook and future.

With countless ways for us to easily invest our money, including startups, crypto, apps, and countless other opportunities being created for athletes to invest their money, we're starting to see athlete venture capitalist funds trending upwards.

To understand exactly what a Venture Capitalist (VC) is, look no further than Investopedia which defines a VC as

“A venture capitalist (VC) is a private equity investor that provides capital to companies with high growth potential in exchange for an equity stake. This could be funding startup ventures or supporting small companies that wish to expand but do not have access to equities markets.”

Getting into a company early by way of an investment is one of the most surefire and exclusive ways to get in on some of the most exciting and high growth companies.  This type of wealth creating space was something that not too long ago was usually only available to those with ample wealth and connections and generally not accessible to women and people of color.

With more of society, especially athletes and Gen Z being very in tune with their finances, we’re hoping to see this trend continue.
