Goal 5: Clean Water and Sanitation

How could athletes be tasked with helping to fight a problem like this that doesn't have a thing to do with sports? At the minimum we understand that water is important for us to stay hydrated during our games... and there's even those sports that require water to actually enjoy them.

As part of our mission to improve the world through sport, we can clearly see the connection for sport to be a vehicle to provide the access to clean water and sanitation for the global community.

For this UN objective, we’re viewing the value and impact of sports on local economies which in turn has the potential to improve local infrastructure which could directly impact clean water and sanitation facilities for communities.

It’s a well known fact that sporting events and teams like championship games, the Olympics, and new franchises are highly coveted, and feature competitive bidding over their hosting.

Controversy arises over whether the immediate economic benefits are greater than the tax and costs to the taxpayers who are typically stuck with a huge bill to subsidize arenas and bids.

According to This study on the Value and benefits of the Sports industrySport can be a stimulus for economic growth especially in small, open economies…”

Our belief is that directly or indirectly by providing opportunities for individual athletes by giving them access to a quality education and higher chances to overcome poverty, the overall infrastructure of sport provides an overwhelming impact to our communities.
