One of the most popular sports events on the planet as the winners of the AFC and NFC meet contest their chance to be crowned Super Bowl champions.
Super Bowl 59 will take place on Sunday, February 9, 2025, when the Kansas City Chiefs started the season looking to make it three on the bounce, and the Super Bowl odds in the early stages of the season certainly backed them.
With so many people around the world tuned into the Super Bowl every year, the action is all live and available before and during the match for fans to look to make themselves winners, too.
Types of Bets
There are different ways you can get into betting on the Super Bowl; all this depends on your knowledge of the game and the funds you are comfortable depositing.
For those new to the sport, some of the best ways to ease yourself in would be:
- Moneyline
This is a simple pick on who you think will win. It's the easiest bet to go with and doesn't require any real knowledge of the sport. It is also perfect for a beginner in sports betting.
You won't have to worry about any points, margins of victory, or anything else other than the final score. It's an easy way to get involved, but the odds will be low, meaning you will probably only make a small amount if your pick does come in.
- Spread Betting
This type of betting is prevalent in the NFL and other popular US sports. This type of betting gives the favorite to win a minus points score to start the game. So if one team has a point spread of -4, they will need to win the game by a minimum of five points over their opposition for you to win.
It's the same the other way, for the underdog will be +4, which means you would still win if the game were a tie before overtime.
- Over/Under
This one differs from the other two in that you aren't picking a winner of the game. This has several variations, but the most common is based on the total number of points to be scored in the match.
Sportsbooks will set a total points value to a .5 total; for example, in Super Bowl 58, it was 47.5. This Super Bowl ended 25-22 to the Kansas City Chiefs over the San Francisco 49ers, meaning that the combined points were 47 and betting on the under won.
- Props Bets
A vast selection of props bets are a little more specialized to specific actions or outcomes during the game.
If you are a big follower of the NFL but starting in betting, some options could interest you.
Some of the most popular props bets can include the player scoring the first touchdown, how the first touchdown will be scored, the total number of interceptions, and so much more in the game.
Top Ranking Teams
- Detroit Lions
Going into the playoffs, the Detroit Lions were the favorites to register their first Super Bowl victory. There is a lot on Jared Goff's shoulders to try and bring glory to this storied franchise.
The Lions were the number one seed in the NFC, and the offensive weapons of running back Jahmyr Gibbs and wide receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown need to step up on the biggest game of their lives should they make it all the way.
- Kansas City Chiefs
Been there, done that. Patrick Mahomes, Travis Kelce, and head coach Andy Reid have reached the Super Bowl four times in the last five years, winning three of their attempts. They will be looking to make it three in a row this season and while
It's not a wild comment to say they will be one of the toughest to beat with a recent history in the playoffs.
- Baltimore Ravens
Who is stopping Lemar Jackson? It will most likely need to be Patrick Mahomes, but Josh Allen would have also liked to have a say in this.
The Ravens brought Derrick Henry to add to the ground game, while Lemar Jackson kept lighting up the league. They are traditionally tough in defense and pose a real threat to the top two in the sportsbook Super Bowl odds.
Each side has earned the right to compete, and the likes of the Philadelphia Eagles to the Houston Texans will all feel that anything can happen on the day.
Once again, the Super Bowl is almost upon us, and we await the person who will lift that famous trophy.
